We have been asked by many why are we closing......

Our landlords buildings have gone to Nama and we are the last of the tenants in 5 properties. We viewed other properties in Killarney and looked at moving somewhere else. We decided we would be moving into a premises that we were not happy with after having 'our palace' for 5 years that we designed ourselves.

It gave us the opportunity to stand back and make the decision to give our families our time. As much as we have enjoyed our years at ENVY, our children will only be children for a while so we are now going to enjoy this. Adam was 2 when we began, And since then there are 5 new additions, Adam has now got Andrew and Jacquelyn with mummy Clodagh, and mummy Emir now has Abigail, Liam and 7 week old Peter.

We thank all those customers that made our time at ENVY so enjoyable. Those that in the last week have travelled to tell us we are going to be missed, those that shared parts of their lives with us over the years and therefore, felt close enough to give us a little hug goodbye. This has shown us that what we set out to do with ENVY of being honest with our customers in offering them styles that suited each individual worked and was appreciated.

We thank all those that worked with us over the years and the fun we had together.

One of Envy Design Studio's winning outfits at the RDS Dublin Horse Show Blossom Hill Ladies Day. Emir Irwin O'Shea won the overall prize of a all expenses paid trip to South Africa and Milan, two of Blossom Hills locations for their vineyards...and of course, the years supply of Blosson Hill Wines was much enjoyed.

Overall winner of Dawn Dairies Ladies Day at Killarney Races 2010.

Winning a prize of a trip to New York.

Emir wears a swan feather headpiece with pale pink blush flowers on the underneath side. The dress is a cream satin v back with a blush silk chiffon skirt. The lace belt carries through the lace on the v back. So elegant. Over this as it was a rainy day, Emir wore a cream coat with a high turnover collar. This had an overlay of lace and beading on the collar and hemline. (Unfortunately, they did not take a photo of the full look.... will upload this at a later stage from the RDS 2010...Emir was invited back as the previous years winner and the organisers and judges couldn't believe that she could have won it again in 2010 with this outfit as they loved it so much....Designer Synan O'Mahony is a fan of ENVY as is Envy a fan of his.... )

Just casually flicking through VIP Magazine earlier what do I spot!!.....page 3 and 4 featuring the Blossom Hill Ladies Day at the RDS Dublin Horse Show. What a delight to see that our overall winner at the event in 2009- Emir Irwin O'Shea of ENVY Boutique- has now been chosen as Bollinger Best Dressed in VIP.

Two in a row is amazing - Emir was the winner of the overall prize at the Blossom Hill Ladies Day in 2009 breaking the boundaries wearing a linen mix jumpsuit and giant sizes hat - the jumpsuit style being very popular at the Galway races this year....in July Emir won the best dressed at the Killarney Races.

Today's deliver at ENVY saw this fabulous chiffon overlay Peacock beaded dress.

It is perfect with a nude sequin shoe and headpiece to pick up on the beading on the feathers....you could match so many tones to this dress to wear to a wedding, party, dinner....a very versatile look!

A scalloped light fabric dress with same colour sequin detail on the neckline. Give it a vintage feel with a little in-hand held clutch and shoes to match or jazz it up with a platform peep toe shoe. Again, a very versatile look that can be worn as a special occasion dress but can be toned down with tights and full shoe comig into the winter months. She is based in Kerry again for the month of August to meet her clients but has appointment times available....so catch her while you can as she will be jetting off again.

Clodagh is well known as an award winning clothing designer having been chosen while a fashion design student as one of 8 in Ireland to showcase their creations in the Point Theater as New Designers. Following on from this, she has created gowns for Miss Universe Kerry, The Kerry Rose, Miss Ireland Kerry and costume design for entertainment shows. One of her most recent designs is the winning outfit at the Blossom Hill RDS Dublin Horse Show Ladies Day 2009.

The start of the year saw 2 of Clodagh's clothing and headpiece designs being chosen as 2 of 10 ladies invited to meet the famous Philip Tracy Milliner at the Leopardstown Hennessey Gold Cup Ladies Day.

July saw this winning streak continue when Best Dressed and Runner Up in the Dawn Dairies Queen of Fashion were both ENVY Ladies.

Emir Irwin O'Shea of ENVY Boutique was the lucky winner of a trip for 2 to New York when she was chosen as the Best Dressed for her elegance. She wore a cream pleated satin V-lace back dress with a silk blush overlay. The headpiece was a blush floral underneath with the crowning feathered angel wing. Emir wore a duchess satin embellished coat (unfortunately we do not have photos of the full look at the moment).

Runner up out of hundreds of stylish ladies on the day was Liz Maher of Carlow who was proud to tell the judges that she too chose an ENVY Boutique dress.

Even though most reviews have said that like all sequesls, they can never live up to the 1st.....SATC2 will still have us wanting to watch it....most of us might not even hear some of the conversations in the movie as we will be dreaming up our next outfits with a SATC lookalike bag, shoe, dress, etc.

ENVY is where you will get the SATC look......lemons and pinks like SJP = Carrie, and Kristen Davis = Charlotte, are proving very popular colours this season......

One of our Italian ranges at ENVY is right on trend with the colour, the pleating, the ruching, the one shoulder...... the collection has a few styles - the two shoulder v-neck is very good on the bust and selling to up to a size 18 as the ruching effect, as in Kristens photo, goes from under the bustline hiding any lumps and bumps most of us have.....it is the perfect dress to give shape to a slim figure and hug a curvy figure in all the right places. Another style is the same skirt type but with one shoulder, and another with a halter neck.

The London premiere of the movie took place earlier this evening.

SJP chose to wear a headpiece by Philip Treacy as she did to the first movie premiere in 2008. The dress was by late designer Alexander McQueen. We love Philip Treacy's work at ENVY Boutique and were lucky enough to meet the man himself earlier this year. He always manages to bring yet another creatiuon to the red carpet. Some may think this headpiece is too big or too bold with the dress.....we at ENVY just think Philip T never gets it wrong....it's all about the wow factor.

Though I would love a Philip Treacy one off piece someday, we are very lucky to have our own milliner at ENVY who can conjure up anything that we ask for.....Niamh Stack of HyBrazil Creations is an artist at work. With readymade pieces instore or special pieces made at the same price range, you just cannot go wrong with a HyBrazil headpiece or jewellery.

We are dealing with different budgets every day of the week....from somene who has €50 to spend on an item that will change the look of their existing dress completely (bold coloured handbags, chiffon shrugs, handmade jewellery) to Mothers of the Bride or Groom who want to look special on their child's big day whether they buy a dress and jacket around €200 or €600.
We always advise people to buy what they are comfortable in....if you are not comfortable in the outfit in the boutique then you will probably not warm to it so do not panic buy! If you buy an outfit that you love, then it really is not about the price as a loved dress is going to be priceless as every time you wear it, you will feel a million dollars....
It is not all about spending, one €500 outfit might look stunning on one customer and not suit another at all while the €150 dress looks amazing on the 2nd customer....at ENVY we are there to help and we really do believe in 'honesty is the best policy'.....the other day a more mature lady tried 2 different jackets, the 1st was approx €200 and very structured....she liked it but I did not think it suited her slim figure as there was no volume on her.....I asked her to try the 2nd coat which retails at €50, with a ruffle collar and wrap effect belt tie this added curves....she bought this one.....
FINALLY, THE POINT OF THIS LITTLE STORY.....WE WOULD RATHER SEE A CUSTOMER LEAVE WITH AN ITEM THAT SUITS THEM THAN SELL FOR THE SAKE OF IT......THAT IS WHAT ENVY IS KNOWN FOR..... HONESTY!

This season when nude is mentioned everyone automatically thinks the peachy colour which is evident everywhere. This can not be worn by everyone as our complexions are so different that it drains many of us. But the palette of nude colours is so vast that there is one to suit everyone....it is just finding it. Peaches, beiges, silver greys, creams, check which one makes your skin glow.

If the silver grey is too close to your skin tone, go with the muted peach, but please try it – trust me, you will be pleasantly surprised!

Pale works with pale.....full outfit of pales– but if in doubt, team it with a slick of vibrant red lipstick and an extra dusting of bronzer.

Nude “Romantic” Look

Nude “Simple” Look

Keep it looking clean with a relaxed white tee and loose beige linen tousers or vice versa....beige on top, white below. Cut off 3/4 length trousers are nice and smart yet allow you to show off nice naturally or fake-tanned (moi) legs. Wedges and clogs are being chosen as the footwear of the season. If you not in to wearing these stilts then little pumps are just as popular and even more so since the 'I will never wear flats' Victoria Beckham teamed them with a little smock dress recently. Comfort is the name of the game for many, especially if you have children to run after (I have gone from 4 inch heels over the last few years to flats....trying to keep up with my 3 rascals) or chores to do.

Nude “Ecletic Rocker” Look

Nude can also work in a harder way for a more eclectic look. Layered nudes over pale colours teamed with dramatic make-up.
Tunic tops are a fantastic transitional item between winter and spring. ENVY have a beautiful black and white stripe top/dress (depending on your height!) with stone coloured net overlay €60. Combine this with some casual linen or skinny white jeans for a funky look.

Killorglin Fashion Show

The fashion show season is in full swing. Love them or hate them, they are a chance for people to see the clothes on a body, not a hanger. A lot of work goes in to a fashion show front of house and also back of house.... models of all sizes and shapes are fitted in outfits that suit them At ENVY we love working with professional modelling agencies as we are given a list of model's details, we choose outfits, we arrive at the venue and the model glides down the runway 'with the greatest of ease'. On the other side of the coin, we love working on local shows....there is nothing better than seeing your friend, neighbour, club member, an aunt, strutting their stuff on the catwalk. Seeing real women wearing clothes that you can imagine yourself wearing is a great thing. Women of a size 12 on top, 14 below, women who carry a size 18 elegantly, women who have curves, women who do not have curves....real women! Congratulations to Twenty-four year old Kamal Ibrahim of Ireland.

He celebrates his triumph after winning the title Mister World 2010 at the event held in Songdo Convention Center in Incheon, Korea on March 27th. Born in Limerick to an Italian mother and Nigerian father, Kamal entered the modeling industry at the age of 19 with Celia Holman Lee. Before joining the very first Mr Ireland, Kamal worked as a promotions assistant for city center nightclub Trinity Rooms, then as a TV presenter. He also undergone rigorous trainings with Blue Shinnors and his team at Forever Fit before going to Incheon, South Korea for Mister World 2010.

This is a beautiful shot of Katie Price but unfortunately this is not the look she went for at the VIP Style Awards.... all the headings were that she would add glamour to the awards....I think our own Irish lassies added a lot more glamour than little Katie did.....she just got it soooo wrong.

I think Michelle Heaton in the aqua jade chiffon dress looks gorgeous. The dress is old style glamour, movie star. The gem shoulders and waist just adds enough bling to jazz it up...... then next her is just tooooo muccchhhh blingg.....I think the dresses are more for a night on the town than the style awards

RTE presenter Grainne Seoige, who won the top prize at the award three years ago, looked stunning in Roman Goddess looking outfit. Very simple but very stylish, set off by a gold belt and drop earrings to keep the neckline bare not to clutter with the one shoulder dress

I had to look very closely as she looks so different here as sometimes on her shows the stylish gives her too old a look. She looks amazing here.

Celia Holman Lee never gets it wrong. WOW.

Anna Daly of TV3. Love the deatil on the back of this dress. The front has a waistcoat effect which I am not sure about as it seems to cut her figure in half.

Yvonne Keating is another lady who rarely gets it wrong. She knows how to dress for her shape and age. She knows that even though she is still young she does not have to show too much for it to look fabulous. The chiffon is fitted in all the right places and then flows to show her fab figure.

Aoife Coogan, a former Miss Ireland, looks stunning in this elegant flowing dress.

Lorraine Keane works this look perfectly. As she is so slim it gives her even more curves on her bust and a curve to her hips, this would not be great on someone else who is already conscious of their curves as it falls from above the hips adding volume.

Pippa O'Connor looks stunning here. The dress is another Greek or Roman Goddess look which seemed to be a popular choice on the night.

Classic black and white will never go out of fashion.

NOW FOR THE MISSES!!

Including Jordan as Katie Price has reverted to from the couple of years of Katie Price when we started to take her more seriously.....

Way too much accessorising going on....these dresses could have looked good with a shoe, not a wedge, and lose the coats!

As much as I love quirky and vintage, again there is way too much detail mixed together here. The blouse is detailed and therefore did not need a double belt and ruffled skirt to chop the figure in so many places.

Amanda Brunker is stunning... but not in this dress. How did she get it so wrong. It is too shiny with so many pleats that it takes from her! It is a very dated look.

Ruth O'Neill is another stunning Irish lass but this dress does nothing for her. It is too big and looks like it came out from being rolled up in a bag. She is even posing as if it is to keep the dress in place. I am surprised that a young up and coming tv personality, as she hopes to be, could have not taken time to pick the perfect dress.

I think that she herself looks very well here but even if there was ruffle at the top of the dress into a pencil skirt idea it might have worked but there are ruffles everwhere and looks a bit Wild West!

A little something for St.Patrick's Day

ORIGINAL IRISH CREAM

This tastes like Baileys, but better!

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup heavy cream or half & half
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 cup Irish whiskey
1 teaspoon instant coffee granules
2 tablespoons chocolate syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract

INSTRUCTIONS:

In a blender, combine cream, sweetened
condensed milk, Irish whiskey, instant coffee,
chocolate syrup, vanilla extract, and almond
extract. Blend on high for 20 to 30 seconds.
Store in a tightly sealed container in the
fridge. Shake well before serving.

GREEN GROG

It's sweet, it's sour, it's tasty and it packs a real punch!

INGREDIENTS:

2 cans frozen limeade concentrate
2 cans frozen lemonade concentrate
2 (2 liter) bottles lemon-lime flavored
carbonated beverage, chilled
1 (750 milliliter) bottle rum, chilled
2 quarts lime sherbet

INSTRUCTIONS:

In a large pot, combine limeade, lemonade
and lemon-lime soda. Stir in rum (add more
to taste if desired.) Mix in the lime sherbet.

The ENVY girls Emir and Clodagh again show they know their style!! Dressing for the winter races, the 2 girls were chosen out of a couple of hundred ladies as 2 of only 12 finalists in the best dressed competition. Tasting the Hennessy Brandy mixtures in the VIP lounge was very enjoyable!! The highlight was that the finalists were introduced to the great Philip Treacy. As a designer, this was like meeting a pop star to Clodagh. Also, a little treat was that part of the finalists gift bags included a couple of sneaky bottles, just the right size for a ladies handbag! But honestly, it was a very well run day. The weather was cold but most ladies had taken the judges advise and worn a winter jacket, coat or shrug. The vintage look was the favourite of the day with many of the finalists opting for classic styles. We recommend it as a great day out, parking near to course, Fillies Cafe Bar very comfy, parade ring near you, other side of the bar were the stands, everything accessible.....very important when wearing 5 inch heels!!
